Windows 10 version 2004, or Windows 10 May 2020 Update, is rolling out in phases across the world, after Microsoft originally offered this release as a manual download for all those checking for updates in Windows Update, the company more recently started the automatic rollout to a small group of devices.
Only computers running Windows 10 version 1903 and Windows 10 version 1909 are included in this automatic rollout of the May 2020 Update, and now Microsoft says that its technique is advancing as planned.
Quite simply, the organization is able to provide the May update as an automatic download to more devices running Windows 10 version 1903 and 1909, as announced now.
"Windows 10, version 2004 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909, who manually aim to "Check for updates" via Windows Update. We are now starting a brand new phase in our rollout. While using machine learning-based (ML-based) training we've done this far, we're enhancing the quantity of devices selected to update automatically to Windows 10, version 2004 that are approaching end and services information. We'll still train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel," Microsoft says.
Pausing the update
What this means is those who're running Windows 10 version 1903 or version 1909 should be offered the update to version 2004 automatically via Windows Update without resorting to manually checking for updates in Windows Update.
The whole thing is going to be completed by Windows Update, so the only action that will be required on your side is really a system reboot to accomplish the update.
People who wish to block the update can pause updates on Windows Update to avoid the May update from installing on their devices.
